This series was developed by the National Center for Cultural Competence with the goal of increasing the capacity of DRTE-funded programs to incorporate principles and practices of cultural and linguistic competence into all aspects of their leadership training.
:: Body/Mind/Spirit:
Toward a Biopsychosocial-Spiritual Model of Health

The discussion of the relationship between spirituality/religion and health has grown enormously in recent years. Studies have shown that spirituality and religion can play a role in how an individual copes with being sick, and may influence medical decisions and eventual health outcomes.

Bridging the Cultural Divide in Health Care Settings:
The Essential Role of Cultural Broker Programs

The goal of this curriculum is to encourage the use of cultural brokering to increase access to culturally competent care, enhancing the delivery of care and improving health outcomes for diverse populations.

Data Vignettes Data Vignettes
This project puts faces and names to the data from the National Survey of Children with Special Health Care Needs (CSHCN). While the stories are composites of many families and do not depict specific families or children, the vignettes can be used to increase understanding of racial and ethnic disparities in delivering care to CSHCN. Each vignette contains discussion questions as well as links to additional resources on the main issues raised in the vignette.
